Abstract As the sequel of Temptation by the Pamirs carried in the third issue of 1998 of the periodical,this article gives us an information that how professor Mu Shunying,a Chinese archaeologist,and her colleagues have been engageded in unearthing and investigating research of Astana tombs,Gaochang and Jiaohe sites in Turpan since 1960s.The author also makes us know their achievements of revealing historical changes of the natural and social environment in the area since Neolithic Age,including such Contents as the ancient ethnic group of Gushi,Tuyugou grottoes,Beziklik grottoes,Yarhu grottoes and the national mergence,cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries that manifested by these unearthed objects.
